Double congratulations are in order for one of our very own Lincolnshire apprentices

28 October 2019

Megan Wilkinson, one of our Lincolnshire based apprentices, is enjoying a double celebration!

After the successful completion of an 18 month apprenticeship, Megan Wilkinson – who works for Waterloo Housing – has been offered the chance to become a Graduate Housing Trainee within the organisation.

Megan has also been shortlisted for a national award.

Earlier this year Megan, aged 21 years old, completed the Level 2 Housing Apprenticeship alongside the CIH – or Chartered Institute of Housing – Level 3 Certificate in Housing Practice qualification.

Over the next two years, Megan will be completing a level 4 apprenticeship alongside the CIH’s Level 4 Certificate in Housing.

Megan said : “I am absolutely delighted to have been offered this fantastic opportunity at Waterloo Housing.  When my original apprenticeship ended I really didn’t want to leave.  Throughout my time here I have had so much support and I now realise there are endless opportunities within the housing sector.  I am just at the start of my journey but I know I have found a career that I love.”

Jo Dembrey, Communities and Neighbourhoods Manager at Waterloo Housing said : “During her time with us Megan has shown enthusiasm and passion for developing her knowledge and has sought out relevant training to help her achieve this. We have seen her grow confidence and we look forward to seeing her develop further over the next few years.  Well done Megan, you are a real asset to the team!”

Waterloo Housing has a long and established history of employing and mentoring apprentices.  It has an annual commitment of offering 11 housing and trade apprentices for both new and existing employees, covering a wide range of directorates and career paths.  The organisation also has its first MA Business Apprentice, a Level 7 solicitor apprenticeship as part of its employee up-skilling initiative.

Earlier this month, Megan was invited to speak at the YMCA’s Training Annual Celebration in Birmingham; during this event it was announced that she had been shortlisted for The Federation of Awarding Bodies Learner of the Year Award, only one of six in the country.

Waterloo Housing is part of Platform Housing Group which provides more than 45,000 homes from Herefordshire in the West to the Lincolnshire coast in the East, and from the Derbyshire Dales in the North to the Cotswolds in the South.
