Work has started on a new housing development in Solihull to provide much needed one and two bedroom homes for local people.
Our development on Cooks Lane will provide 27 one and two bedroom apartments for affordable rent. The £2.7m scheme is a joint venture between us, Westleigh and Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council, supported by funding from the Homes and Communities Agency.
Gino Siani, Head of New Business at Westleigh for the West Midlands, commented, “We are delighted to be helping local residents by meeting the continued rise in demand for affordable housing. The scheme has been made possible thanks to continuous support from the council and Waterloo Housing Group as well as funding from the HCA and we are grateful to all our partners for being involved.”
Reuben Flynn, Area Development Manager for Waterloo Housing Group said, “We are really pleased to be working with our partners to transform this derelict site into much-needed affordable homes to meet local housing needs”.
Councillor Tony Dicicco, Cabinet Member for Environment, Housing and Regeneration, said: “Affordable housing is something that is always in high demand in Solihull so it is great to see this project providing 27 new homes in the borough. I look forward to seeing the completed apartments and I’m sure the new tenants will be very happy there.”
