In partnership with the Department for Work and Pensions, Waterloo Housing have helped four long term unemployed people gain valuable work experience through six week work placements.
The partnership enables participants to learn new skills, increase their confidence, update their CV and support future job applications. It also helps prepare them for the workplace.
Angela Jenkins has recently completed her placement with Office Services and the experience has boosted her confidence and given her a new sense of direction.
“I used to work as a machine operative until three years ago a bad injury made it impossible for me to continue. I’d never tried office work and wasn’t sure it’d be for me but I love it!”
Angela has been so inspired by her time at Waterloo she is now considering applying for a job here, something she would never have had the confidence to do before her work placement. She is also considering doing an IT course to update her skills.
