In the East and West Midlands the current grounds maintenance contracts (these exist where there are shared gardens maintained by the Group for residents) are due to finish on the 30 June 2016.
The Group have therefore recently completed a tendering exercise to find new contractors to carry out the grounds maintenance service.
In Lincolnshire the contract is not due to expire and therefore there will be no change in service.
Who are the outgoing Contractors?
Since January 2013 the Grounds Maintenance Service has been carried out by Sodexo in the East and West Midlands. Sodexo’s contract in the East and West Midlands ends on 30 June 2016
We will still be working with Sodexo who provide the grounds service in Lincolnshire.
Why the change?
The existing contracts in the Midlands were due to expire on 30 June 2016 after a three year period. The Group decided to put the contracts out for competitive tender to make sure that customers were receiving the best value for money and service.
What has changed?
Following feedback from customers, rather than appoint one contractor, the Group have separated the East and West Midlands into five separate Lots. The rules of the tender meant that one contractor could only win a maximum of two Lots.
This means that the contractor providing the grounds maintenance service in your area will vary depending on where you live.
Who are the new Contractors?
The Group has appointed three new contractors.
Which areas do each Contractor Cover?
Greenfingers: Kidderminster, Worcestershire, Stourbridge, Sandwell and Dudley.
Quadron (part of the iVerde Group): Birmingham and Solihull.
Burleys: Warwickshire, Cannock, Lichfield, Staffordshire, Coventry, Nuneaton and Bedworth, and Lutterworth.
Burleys: Rutland, Market Harborough, Leicester, Wigston, Melton Mowbray, Rugby and Kettering.
Greenfingers: Nottinghamshire, Newark and Loughborough.
Has the Specification Changed?
The specification varies from scheme to scheme depending on the type of work required on each site. If you would like to see the specification for your site, we are more than happy to make this available to you.
A typical specification might be for example
Following feedback from customers we have increased the frequency of bush cutting from three to four times a year from the previous contract.
In line with the previous contract, tree works are not included.
Will my Service Charge change?
There will be no immediate changes to your service charge. There may be changes to your service charge at the time of the next rent review, which will either be January 2017 or April 2017, depending on your tenancy agreement.
