Waterloo Housing Association is committed to consulting, informing and involving tenants and residents in the services provided. Residents will be encouraged to participate and support will be provided for residents who want to acquire the skills and knowledge to become involved. Ongoing support will also be provided to resident groups.

A range of methods and opportunities to inform and consult with residents and obtain feedback on services will be used including joint meetings between the board of management and residents representatives. Residents are also represented on the board.

Residents may become involved in several ways including:

  1. Joining with their neighbours to establish a residents association for which a grant and support are available
  2. Joining with their neighbours and asking Waterloo to establish a local residents forum for which support is available
  3. One or two individuals acting as a representative for their area for which support is available. This often works best where the number of properties is small or in one block of flats.
  4. Arranging with your housing officer to hold a regular, publicised to all, residents surgery. This often works best where the number of properties is small.
  5. Joining the Waterloo Residents Association Network.
  6. Attending Waterloo Residents Association meetings

Has numerous members, 2 of which are residents. The resident's representatives are nominated by the resident members of the consultative panel and approved by a meeting of the board of mmanagement

The Consultative Panel
Is made up from Waterloo Residents Association Committee (WRAC), senior management and the chairperson of the board, along with three other board members. The panel is a strategic meeting between resident representatives and Waterloo, which is held twice a year.

Waterloo Residents Association (WRA)
Represents all Waterloo residents and elects a committee (WRAC). WRA nominates those on WRAC who are put forward for consideration as board members. They are supported and support local residents groups and publish their own magazine 'The Resident'. 'The Resident' goes to all rented & shared ownership properties. In addition WRAC have a Network.

Residents Groups
Under this general heading is all type of meeting for local requirements. These include residents associations, local resident forums, and local representatives.

The Network
Provides contact by telephone, letter email and small surveys for WRAC to the widest range of resident covering age, gender, geographic location and ethnicity.
