RIGHT TO COMPENSATION

Introduction

You have a right to claim compensation for certain improvements which you may make to your home with written consent from Waterloo.

Before any work begins you should provide three estimates from contractors, stating which one you are accepting and why.

Waterloo will give you permission in writing to allow the work to go ahead and will also inform you how your compensation payment will be calculated if you decide to move home at a later date.

The formula for the calculation is the cost of the improvement, depreciated by the length of time the improvement has been made. There is a minimum figure payable of £50.00 and a maximum of £3,000.

When you leave, if there is any money owed by you to Waterloo, your compensation will be set against the amount due.

Compensation is generally not payable if you have to give up your home as a result of a possession order for a breach of obligation.
