Emergency pull cords are fitted in each room. These are connected to the residents scheme manager Sue MacGranaghan and, when she is off duty, to a central control alarm service. Communal facilities include a residents' lounge, grounds and ample parking. Frequent social activities are organised by residents and the scheme manager. Local Amenities The local shop, post office and bust stop are within walking distance (about 200 yards). The town centre of Stechford is three miles away.

It involved both new development and refurbishment of the historic parts of the old hospital, including the memorial hall which is situated alongside the scheme. Accommodation Wellington Court is for older people who need for assistance to live independently. Opened in 2002, it is Waterloo's first extra care sheltered housing scheme. Extra care housing combines accommodation designed to encourage independent living with home care services, such as dressing and bathing, which are provided by the local authorities services if required. The extra support aims to provide a 'home for life', acting as an alternative to residential care. Wellington Court has 40 self contained flats, of which 35 have one bedroom and 5 have two bedrooms. The unfurnished properties also feature a lounge, shower room and kitchen. They are centrally heated and double glazed and have a call system to summon help in an emergency. Facilities The scheme's communal facilities include a lounges, resident-run shop, assisted bathroom facilities, laundry, hairdressers and landscaped grounds. There is also a library with computer and internet access and a guest room for visiting friends and family. Regular lunchtime meals are cooked by Age Concern in the well equipped kitchen and available to enjoy at a reasonable cost in the communal dining room. A Resident Scheme Manager is available on-site to support residents. She works closely with the Social Services staff who provide home care services and have an office based at the scheme.
